Case Study · Edge-Native Discovery

Invisible in AI Search
to Cited by Default

How a Series B B2B SaaS company traded a rented WordPress stack for owned, edge-native infrastructure — and became discoverable across all three traffic channels: AI search engines , human visitors , and autonomous AI agents.

The Challenge

Stuck on Rented, Invisible Infrastructure

Invisible to AI Search

The company's content lived in heavy, nested WordPress HTML that AI crawlers struggled to parse within their fixed per-URL time budget. Buyers researching the category through ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews were never shown the company as a source — competitors were cited in its place, and the pipeline impact was invisible in analytics because the loss happened before the click.

Slow Pages, Lost Conversions

P95 load time on the legacy origin stack hovered around 1.4 seconds. Visitors increasingly arrived pre-educated by AI summaries and ready to act, but were met with render-blocking assets and a sluggish first paint. High-intent traffic bounced on the very pages meant to convert it.

No Channel for AI Agents

Autonomous agents had no structured way to query the company's offerings or pricing. As ChatGPT and Claude began transacting on users' behalf, the business had no MCP endpoint to participate — a third, fast-growing traffic channel it simply could not be found on.

Rented, Locked-In Infrastructure

The marketing site sat across a SaaS CMS plus three plugins, each with per-seat fees and roadmap dependencies. Any structural fix required vendor cooperation, and the team owned none of the code — leaving every optimization gated behind a subscription it could not control.

The Solution

One Architecture, Three Traffic Channels

A Clean Break to Owned Edge Infrastructure

Media Lite rebuilt the site natively on the client's own Cloudflare account under a one-time CAPEX model. Every Worker, vector index, and repository was handed over outright — no SaaS rent, no per-seat markups, and no vendor lock-in. The client now pays Cloudflare directly for compute at cost.

Edge-Served Citations for AI Crawlers

Pre-rendered, citation-ready markdown and JSON-LD snapshots are stored in edge storage and served through a Worker on the same canonical medialite-style domain. The Worker verifies each AI crawler and returns lightweight markdown to bots and the full React shell to humans — so crawlers with tight time budgets complete a full scrape and cite the client's own domain.

Sub-12ms Human Performance

The React shell now serves from globally distributed edge nodes, dropping P95 latency under 12ms. Pre-educated visitors hit an instant page and convert immediately instead of waiting on heavy legacy assets.

A WebMCP Channel for Agents

Verified Model Context Protocol tool endpoints were deployed at the edge, letting autonomous agents query offerings and pricing natively. The business is now present on the agent channel — the third audience — alongside AI search and human visitors.

The Results

What Changed After the Clean Break

0 → 38

AI citations / month

From never appearing in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews to being cited across 38 buyer questions within the first quarter post-launch.

11ms

P95 edge latency

The React shell serves from globally distributed edge nodes, down from a ~1.4s origin response on the legacy WordPress stack.

+27%

Demo conversion rate

AI-pre-educated visitors landed on an instant page and converted instead of bouncing on heavy legacy assets.

$0

Monthly software rent

Every Worker and index runs on the client's own Cloudflare account — compute billed at cost, with no per-seat SaaS fees.

In Their Words

What the Client Said

We stopped paying rent on a platform that kept us invisible to the tools our buyers actually use. Media Lite handed us the keys to our own edge infrastructure — now AI search cites us by name, the site loads instantly, and agents can pull our pricing directly. The best part is we own all of it outright.
